It’s time for another spotlight on a member of the Inky Thinking team. This time we’re delighted to introduce you to Felipe. We asked Felipe about his experience as an illustrator, and what makes him tick both personally and professionally.
‘I have two young children, so when I’m not illustrating, I’m fully on duty as their personal entertainer, referee, and snack provider. Life with them moves fast, one minute we’re building something, the next we’re onto a new game or tackling homework, so they’re very good at making sure I stay present and on my toes.
When I do get a moment to switch gears, I love diving into sports especially football and ice hockey. I’m a big Arsenal fan, so I follow as many matches as I can. It’s the perfect way to escape into something completely different (and even better when the team is on a good run!).
I’m also lucky enough to play both sports myself. A couple of times a week, I head out for sessions that are equal parts exercise, competition, and catch-up with people outside of my illustration bubble. It’s a great reset and a nice reminder that I can still keep up, most of the time.
I’m motivated by many things, but at the core is the privilege of doing what I love for a living. It serves as a constant reminder of the journey that brought me here and pushes me to keep growing and giving my best in everything I do.
While some areas and types of illustration often focus on stylistic or decorative purposes, I see its true power in its ability to communicate meaningful messages. Whether I’m working from a brief or capturing ideas live in a room, my focus is always on creating visuals that are clear, engaging, and memorable for the intended audience.
The process of translating ideas into images - of making complex thoughts simple and accessible - is where I find both the greatest challenge and the deepest sense of fulfilment.
What I enjoy the most about working for Inky is the supportive platform and culture that Tom and Esther have created. It’s a truly special place to be, where creativity is encouraged and artists are given the space and autonomy to grow and thrive. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a talented pool of artists, each bringing their own unique perspective and skillset.
What makes it even more meaningful is the sense of community. Not only is everyone highly skilled, but they are also genuinely supportive and always want to see each other succeed. That spirit of collaboration and encouragement makes a real difference and is something I value deeply in my day-to-day work.

My favourite Inky Thinking project? This is a tough one to answer because there are quite a few projects competing for the top spot, but if I had to choose, I’d go with a recent project for a large global business, held in New York City.
It stands out for so many reasons. From a project and client perspective, it was an incredible experience. The client is a huge global company with a portfolio of iconic brands, so the event brought together people from all over the world. The energy in the room was amazing, and the content and activities were just as diverse and exciting as the brands themselves. On a personal level, it was also my first time in NYC, which made the whole experience even more memorable.
The event took place at their headquarters in Newark, and one of the unexpected highlights was their in-house shop, fully stocked and heavily discounted for employees and visitors. Let’s just say I couldn’t resist and ended up filling my luggage with goodies. And as if that wasn’t enough, the building is right next to the Prudential Center, home of the New Jersey Devils. By pure luck, they were playing the New York Rangers while I was there, so I got to experience my very first NHL game, which is where the photo for this blog was taken.
When collaborating with client I always try to step into their shoes and ask myself ‘what would actually add the most value here?’ Illustration, especially live scribing (graphic recording), is becoming more popular, but it’s still a bit of a hidden gem. Many clients have seen it at events or heard about it through their networks and know it looks cool and engaging, but they don’t always realise just how powerful it can be.

That’s where I come in. A big part of my role is helping clients navigate the possibilities, demonstrating not just what illustration is, but what it can do for them. Whether it’s bringing clarity to complex ideas, capturing key moments, or creating something people genuinely connect with, the goal is always to find the approach that delivers the most value and impact.
Once we’ve landed on the right direction and have a clear brief, I dive deep into their world (even If there is little time), understanding their message, their audience, and the context as much as possible so the work feels relevant and purposeful.
And when it comes to the final piece, I always aim to create something that goes beyond the moment. Something worth hanging on a wall. Something that makes people stop, look twice, and walk away with an idea that sticks.'
