Capturing stand spirit at the Road Transport Expo 2023

Client: MAN Truck & Bus UK
Work: Graphic recording and rich picture design

Big products deserve maximum attention, that’s why Andy went large-scale in his visual approach to the MAN Truck & Bus UK stands at the Road Transport Expo in 2023. Andy was keen to ensure that the resulting graphic conveyed the spirit of the stand including customers, staff and a cuddly lion.

It was great to work with Andy and Tom from Inky Thinking for this event. We wanted something that was going to be different on the stand, a bit of a talking piece as well as something that helped us to capture the buzz and essence of the event and our presence there. Andy was really easy to work with and we are absolutely thrilled with the result. We’re now just working out which wall at HQ is big enough for us to hang it on.

In depth

What our client needed:

MAN Truck and Bus were hosting a stand at the Road Transport Expo in Stoneleigh Park. The Expo, held over three days in June, is the UK’s biggest expo dedicated to all things truck, and is a significant calendar date for anyone involved in the running of an HGV fleet. Having partnered with Inky Thinking before, Maria and team wanted to add something visual and different to their stand, piquing the interest of stand visitors and capturing the essence of stand activity during the event.

How we worked with the client:

Andy partnered closely with Maria to identify the best way of capturing the essence of MAN’s stand throughout the Expo. It was agreed that Andy would graphically capture key imagery, a mix of product and people, over the three days on a large chart right in the middle of the MAN stand. Being an outside event meant that the graphic had to be protected, so the MAN team constructed a tent just to cover Andy, his work and his Neuland GraphicWall whilst ensuring that his work was accessible to stand visitors.

After the Expo Andy transformed the pen and paper artwork into a dynamic digital graphic, to be used by the MAN team in a variety of ways to sustain the excitement surrounding the event.

The result:

A large digital summary of MAN’s attendance at the RT Expo, featuring customers, the MAN team and key products within the MAN range.
